Kanin is a Wolf

This year Kanin decided that he would like to join Cub Scouts.  I think that Cub Scouts has so much to offer young boys but, to be honest, I was a little surprised that he wanted to join as he had never mentioned it before.  We decided to go ahead and give it a whirl, though, and last night was his first Den meeting.

Last week we had the Pack meeting where I signed him up and he got a Pack t-shirt.

Since I wasn't quite sure what he should have as far as uniform, etc. I just went ahead and sent him to his Den meeting in his Pack t-shirt.

When we got to the meeting our leader, Cheryl, had set up pie tin washers and the boys had a good time playing this for a bit.

After getting some energy out, the boys got on to the lesson of the day . . . the Flag Ceremony.  This year the Den will be participating in the Flag Ceremony at Pack meetings so they had to learn how to present the flag, fold the flag, what color guard means, what a flag bearer is, the Pledge of Allegiance, and what the Pledge means.  Since Kanin is SO "in" to countries and flags, he thought this was really cool.

After learning all about the Flag, we went inside to talk about future Cub Scout events and the boys had a snack.  To get prepared for the October camping trip, they ate worms and dirt.

Kanin is really excited about being a Cub Scout.  Since he didn't participate last year, he does have some catching up to do to earn his Bobcat but I have a feeling he will jump right on it!
