St. Patty's Day Fun

St. Patrick's Day is a huge day of celebration in St. Louis. There are several St. Patty's Day parades around town but the one thought of as the "most authentic" is the Dogtown parade.  Dogtown is a mostly Irish neighborhood in St. Louis and it is the place to be on March 17.

Last year was the first time that I had ever been to the Dogtown parade and I fell in love with it.  There are no giant floats and balloons, only one school band, but there are tons of families (clans) handing out beads and candy, lots of Irish dancers and bag pipers, and, of course, lots of celebrating.

Here we are in 2010.  Look how little the Boo Boo was!

Here we are this year.
This year my friend, Sue, went down with us along with her two kiddos, Jacob and Annabelle.  2 Mommies and 5 kids under 7, talk about a handful!

We also met up with our backdoor neighbors, the Nelson's.

For those of you who don't know a lot about St. Patty's Day, here is a short history lesson:

The sign is indicative of the kind of things you see in the Dogtown Parade.  Here is a short history of the Doyle clan.

Here are A LOT of pics from our day.

Of course, GracieAnn had to have her "moment."

Pat's Bar & Grill is a Dogtown staple.  We sat right across the street from Pat's.  Here's a snapshot looking up the street.

Of course, there were some crazies.

Hope you all had as much fun on St. Patty's Day as we did!
