Know of Any Good Books?

In an effort to read 50 books between now and sometime in Sept 29, 2013(when my 101 in 1001 ends), I need some suggestions for books.  I do have a few requirements:

#1 Nothing about a kid getting kidnapped.  I read Deep End of the Ocean and it haunted me forever.  No, I did not watch the movie.

#2 I just really can't see myself getting into vampires.

That's pretty much it.  Right now I am reading the Percy Jackson series and it is pretty entertaining and fast reading.

I saw these books recommended on Mommy Moment:
The Help By Kathryn Stockett

The Hunger Games Series by Suzanna Collins
Matched By Ally Condie

Do you have any suggestions?

  1. Lets see, anything by Nora Roberts! She is my favorite author, Jude Devaraux is good too! :D

  2. I started off with "Honeymoon with my Brother" (and then left it in a hotel in Switzerland! whoops!) And I loved it, at least what I read.

  3. Ohh, if you like Percy Jackson, you should read The Hunger Games. I love, love, love that series - even if it is supposed to be juvenile literature. Also, Rick Roidan (sp?) has another book after the Percy Jackson series called The Lost Hero that is thought to be good (it is in my pile of 'to-read' books).

I hear Hunger Games is FABULOUS!!

HAve you done the Steig Larson (Sp?) Girl with the Dragon Tattoo series. REALLY GOOD!! (just have to get past the first 100 pages!)

  5. I read The Help and really loved it. I also just finished The Apothecary's Daughter. It was a free ebook that I got and ended up loving it. Now I am reading the 2nd Steig Larson book (can't remember what it's called). I like it, but like the first one, there are parts that I glaze over.

  6. The Help is great. I haven't read a book in so long! I used to be so into it. Let me think for a bit.

  7. A great book is Life Without Limits by Nick Vujicic. It's about a man born without limbs, who doesn't let anything stand in his way. Your site is great by the way!

  8. Love Nora Roberts, most her books have a little of everything: mystery, suspense, romance and a little sex here and there. I've loved everyone of hers I've read.

Or if you really like the suspense stuff with some romance tied in try Lisa Jackson.

  9. The Hunger games series and THe Help are fabulous - I would definitely read them!

I also really enjoyed the Girl with the Dragon tattoo, The Girl Who Played with Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest (3 in the series)
